Our flagship Residential Courses are held annually at the University of Greenwich, London. These immersive courses provide hands-on learning and networking opportunities, offering a deep dive into the core areas of the oils, seeds, and fats trade.
Residential Trade Education Courses
Introductory Course
Designed for newcomers with up to three years of experience, this course covers the fundamentals of FOSFA contracts, arbitration, and technical aspects of the trade.
Advanced Course
For professionals with three or more years of experience, this course explores complex trade scenarios, including advanced contract interpretation, arbitration processes, and technical issues.

International Short Courses
Our International Short Courses bring FOSFA’s expert training to international venues, providing practical and accessible education and networking opportunities to industry professionals worldwide.
Recent Course: June 2025, Argentina
Our most recent two-day international course was co-hosted with CIARA in June at the Bolsa de Cereales in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Forty-five delegates attended course from fifteen FOSFA member and non-member companies based in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Peru.
The course content included:
- Introduction to FOSFA International – The formation, purpose, objectives and governance of the Federation.
- FOSFA Contracts – Formation, Default & Damages, Loading & Discharging, Goods, Shipping, Payment & Insurance, Relief Clauses and Laytime.
- FOSFA Arbitration – the mechanism and process of FOSFA arbitration including FOSFA Rules of Arbitration & Appeals and the role of the arbitrator.
- FOSFA Carriage of Oils & Fats – the safe transportation of oils and fats and the FOSFA member Superintendent and Analyst Schemes.
We are currently planning the next international course for South East Asia in early 2026, so please look out for more details.
TradeBytes - Online Learning Courses
